Purpose and amount of the scholarships, fellowships, and/or other educational grant amounts are based on the availability funding during CSE’s financial fiscal year and the financial need of the prospective recipient. The scholarship amount can range anywhere in between $250.00 and $2,500.00. The board of directors determine the total number of scholarships/grants based upon the number of qualified applicants and ranking them by a point score. The amount of each grant will be based upon need and capped by a maximum annual award limit. Those with the highest score and greatest need will be funded first. In the beginning in 2005, our goal was to offer five scholarships every year. Since its inception, the Scholarship Program has been able to award over $ scholarship funds.
In order to promote our Scholarship Program, our most successful fundraising campaign occurs annually at our Gala extravaganza. Every year, a scholarship recipient is selected by the Board of Directors and practices their speaking skills in front of our 300 and plus guest list that includes our board members, members, cohorts, corporate sponsors, local government officials, TV, radio, and print media outlets, and local special celebrities and figures in the DC metropolitan Hispanic communities.
